System Requirements

Description: InFocus is a client/server application, where the client is the InFocus application running on the end user’s computer, and the server is a dedicated machine hosting the database. The InFocus application itself is a Windows Smart Client that is launched through the browser (Internet Explorer 6+), using an additional technology called ClickOnce from Microsoft.

Although InFocus is launched through the browser, it is much more than a web application. It is a locally running Windows application with the speed, power, and richness you would expect from other natively running Windows applications.

Client Requirements

InFocus is a .Net application, and as such has the same requirements as the .Net Framework. To see the .Net Framework requirements, click here.

Server Requirements

InFocus uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2008 for the backend database. (x86 or x64)

Generally speaking, if you employ under 30 users, the free versions (Express) of SQL 2005/2008 will be sufficient.

In a day of constantly improving and increasingly cheap hardware, it makes little sense to give hardware requirements. As such, consider the list below as more of a guideline than hard and fast requirements.

Operating System:  Windows Server 2003 (or greater) (x86 or x64)

Memory: 2GB (or greater)

Processor: 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

Drive Space:  While actual space usage will depend on several factors, you should maintain 10 GB of free space for continued growth.
